The celebrations "del Carmen" in Empuriabrava from 12 to 16 July 2017

The celebrations del Carmen in Empuriabrava will take place from 12 to 16 July 2017.

Like many coastal villages of Catalonia, the famous Marina of Empuriabrava has this celebrations in honor of the Virgin of Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen and sailors.

This festival consists of iconic acts such as a boats procession on the canals, all decorated for the occasion, a popular sardinade, concerts and "sardanas", and a superb fireworks.

The origins of this festival comes from a legend of the eighteenth century that says that the Virgin of Carmen rescued a British ship that was drifting in a hurricane.

Since then, during this period, many coastal villages ask for protection at sea.
